Dorothy Johnston Jacobson, 86, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 23, 2016 at 10:45 pm at the Regency House, Wallingford with her son Kevin by her side. She was the loving wife of 30 years to the late Irving “Red” Jacobson. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 9, 1930; daughter of the late Stephen Ryder and Dorothy Waters Johnston. Mother of Kevin Jacobson with whom she made her home, Howard (Lillian) Jacobson, David (Cheryl) Jacobson, Donald (Catherine) Jacobson, Sandra (Albert) Lewis, Karen (Curt) Burwell and Susan (Albert) Guerrera. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 new baby great great grandsons, many nieces, nephews and special family friends including her Tai Chi group from the Wallingford Senior Center. Predeceased by her infant brother Stephen Johnston, a grandson Eric Mansfield Lewis and 3 step sons, Clifford, Peter and Larry Jacobson. The family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to the staff of the Regency House and the Star Unit for caring for Dorothy the past nine months.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Tuesday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends may call from 9:30 until time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to Constellation Hospice of Orange, 240 Indian River Road, Orange, CT 06477.
