Stanley J. Kowalewski, 93, formerly of Bridgeport for 76 years until moving to Hamden in 2001 passed away peacefully on Thursday April 27, 2017 at the MidState Medical Center, Meriden with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma Tadduni Kowalewski. Stanley was born in Bridgeport on April 20, 1924; son of the late John and Katherine Woznicki Kowalewski; served his country faithfully in the US Army Air Corp during WWII; had worked for Moore Precision Tools of Bridgeport and Avco- Lycoming until retirement. After retirement he was the owner and operator of Stan’s Machine Repair. Stanley was one of the founders of the North End Little League of Bridgeport and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Father of Elaine (David) Krauss of Danbury, Stephanie Kowalewski-Bohn of Hamden and Robert (Karen) Kowalewski of North Haven. Grandfather of Stanley (Lena) Kowalewski, Jr., Nicole (Anthony) Re, Scott Kowalewski and Robert (Lauren) Kowalewski. Great-Grandfather of Kaylee Anne, Hannah Marie, Norma-Rhea, Stanley John III, Briana Lynn and Aubrey Grace Kowalewski, Ryan Anthony and Brandon Jonathan Re. Also survived by sixteen nieces and nephews, twelve great-nieces and great-nephews. Brother of Bertha Gudaitis and Jane Grace. Predeceased by his son-in-law Charles Bohn and a granddaughter Jennifer Anne Kowalewski.
His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Tuesday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown. The visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 8 pm.
