Srikanthi “Nita” Dissanayake, 66, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford under the loving care of her family and friends.
Nita was born on April 13, 1952 in Mahakohuwa, Dandugama, Sri Lanka. She was the daughter of late Peter and Juthina (Fernando) Perera of Sri Lanka.
Nita worked as a CNA at Arden House in Hamden, CT for over 40 years, with a wonderful group of colleagues and friends. Her natural gift was always caring for others by being a mentor to many and sharing the wisdom and experience that she gained over the years. She was very conscientious in treating her patients with dignity, respect, and true compassion.
Nita enjoyed life to the fullest: she was a gracious, vivacious, and enthusiastic woman who loved people. Cooking was her passion and she enjoyed preparing many of her signature dishes for all her family and friends to enjoy.
Nita will always be remembered as a social butterfly with a heart as big as her personality. Her infectious smile and laughter filled every room she entered.
Left to cherish the memory of Nita are her beloved husband Henry, her daughter Maya, and her son Ranil.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 11 AM – 3 PM at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, North Haven. Pansakoola a Buddhist ceremony will be held at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CTBV (Connecticut Buddhist Vihara).
