Gloria C. Nudo Cole, 94, of Northford, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Commander George O. Cole. Gloria was born in Frankfort, New York on March 19, 1923 and was the daughter of the late William and Mary Marine Nudo. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from State University New York Geneseo and had taught school in Hannibal, New York and Taiwan. Gloria volunteered at the Yale Peabody Museum, the New Haven Colony Historical Society, the Yale Women’s Auxiliary, and the Parents Association at Hamden Hall Country Day School, served on the Board of Directors for the Theater in the Park and started the Gourmet Club of New Haven. She was a collector of antiques, enjoyed gourmet cooking, loved to entertain and a seat at her table was highly coveted. Loving mother of Theresa (Gigi) Garofano, Jeannette (Carole Ringuette) Cole and the late George and William “Will” Cole. Beloved grandmother of George and James Garofano. Predeceased by her brother William Nudo.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to Zion Episcopal Church, 326 Notch Hill Road, North Branford on Tuesday morning, Nov. 14th at 10:00 to attend a funeral service and are also invited to attend the committal service immediately following in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Monday, Nov. 13th from 5 to 8 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Episcopal Church, 326 Notch Hill Road, North Branford, CT 06471.
