Eugene J. Frione, 89, of North Haven passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at the Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Veronica Sikorski Frione. Eugene was born in New Haven on February 29, 1928 and was the son of the late Felice and Elizabeth Mammolite Frione.  He served his country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII and was stationed on the USS Helena in Pearl Harbor and later in Japan and Shanghai. Eugene worked for the former Foxon Concrete, later for Suzio Concrete for which he was still an active employee.  Eugene was a facet in his North Haven neighborhood of Cindy Lane and will be greatly missed by his neighbors of over 50 years. Eugene will be remembered by his friends and family for his competitive nature with the game of pinochle, his never ending energy when it came to yard work and immense love of red wine and most importantly his favorite sports teams, the Yankees, UCONN Women and Villanova Men’s basketball. Eugene will be remembered most of all for the unconditional love he had for his family.  Loving father of Rhonda (Albert) Manware and Elizabeth (Hans) Strilbyckij.  Grandfather of Kelly Marshall (Gerry Celano) and Erica Ann Strilbyckij. Great Grandfather of Elle Celano. Brother of Amelia Troiano, Genevieve Wall DeMarseilles and the late Angelo and John Frione. Special considerations to his extended family who he adored; the Manware, Strilbyckij, Cardinale and Scarpa families.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Monday morning at 11:00. Family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Therese Church at 11:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929 or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
