Elizabeth “Liz” Festa Twohig, 63, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Yale-New Haven Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of 39 years to Brian H. Twohig. Liz was born in New Haven on April 12, 1955 and was the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Raiano Festa. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Western New England College and her Master degree from The Graduate Institute in Bethany. Liz had worked as a Research Chemist at Olin’s, then was a Chemistry Teacher for the Cheshire School System for many years and later was a STEM Teacher for the Westport School System. She was a creative and most excellent cook. Mother of Erin Brooks (Bram) and Jennifer Twohig (Mike Kapsimalis). Grandmother of Thea Brooks. Sister of John Festa (Teresa) and Linda Griglun (Michael). Also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Saturday morning at 11:00. Entombment will follow in the All Saints Mausoleum. The visiting hours will be Friday (TODAY) from 5 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Girls Collaboration Project for STEM/ngcproject.org.
