Andrew Douglas Brooks, 44, of North Haven, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael campus with his family by his side. Andrew was born in New Haven on December 30, 1972 and was the son of Jeffrey A. and Margaret Kaszeta Brooks. He was a 1991 North Haven High School graduate and later attended Southern Connecticut State University. Andrew had worked for the Greater New Haven Transit for thirteen years and later as a driver for Heritage Livery. He has been a member of the West Ridge Volunteer Fire Department since 1991, member of the Corinthian Lodge #63 of North Haven and a member of the Hamden Elks Lodge #2224. A member of the Yale University Glee Club having performed with them at Carnegie Hall; he also was a member of the S.C.C.U. Choir. Andrew was a Yale Rugby fan and was very active with the organization of the Special Olympic Games. Brother of Patrick S. Brooks. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous friends and brother firefighters.
Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue Thursday morning, Sept. 14th at 11:00. Interment will follow in the North Haven Center Cemetery. The visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Sept. 13th from 4 to 8 pm. Should friend’s desire, memorial contributions may be made to the West Ridge Fire Department Company #3 or the Masonic Burn Center, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
