Alan C. Davis, 65, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully at his home on October 25, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Karen O’Hare Davis and devoted father of Alison O’Hare Davis.
Alan was the principal of North Branford Intermediate School from 2003-2017 and retired in August due to his illness.
Alan was born in New Haven on February 18, 1952, and was the son of the late Robert E. and Mary P. Davis. Alan graduated from North Branford High School in 1970. Alan earned a B.A. in Secondary Mathematics Education from UConn, a Master’s Degree and Sixth Year Degree in Education and Administration from SCSU.
During his career which spanned forty-three years, Alan influenced countless people. As a teacher, department chairman, advisor, and administrator, Alan passionately and humbly served the students, parents and staff of the North Branford Public Schools. As a principal of North Branford Intermediate School for fifteen years, Alan’s impact was immeasurable and will forever be ingrained in the philosophy of the school. This philosophy, “The Davis Way”, will continue to guide and foster the school’s culture.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Alan is survived by his brothers; Robert (Christine) Davis and Scott Davis; his father-in-law and his wife, William and Lorraine O’Hare; his brothers- in-law; Daniel O’Hare, Matthew O’Hare and Thomas (Audrey) O’Hare; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia and Robert Boudreau, who were by Alan’s side during his illness. Alan is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Melissa, Megan and Jaxxon Davis, Erin and Matthew Boudreau and William O’Hare.
Alan was an avid fan of the New York Yankees, the New York Giants, and the UConn Women’s Basketball team. Alan enjoyed summer family vacations to the beaches of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Alan’s loyal, kind hearted nature along with his quick wit and sense of humor will stay with us forever.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford on Saturday morning at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Wallingford. The visiting hours will be Friday from 3-7 pm at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue.
