Vincent R. Marenna

Vincent R. Marenna, 87, of 1450 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Montowese Health & Rehabilitation Center, North Haven. He was the beloved husband of sixty-two years to Carmela Rossetti Marenna. Born in New Haven on January 14, 1925; son of the late Antonio and Alfonsina Votto Marenna. Vincent had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corp during WW II; he worked for the City of New Haven Welfare Department, later served as a Tax Collector for fourteen years and later along with his wife operated the Home for the Aged from 1971 to 1983. Vincent was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order; was active with many churches in the area for many years; was a former member of the American Legion; member of the AMVETS; member of the D.A.V. Chapter #2; was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church, New Haven and St. Rita Church of Hamden. Father of Joseph P. Marenna (Rita) of Durham, Thomas A. Marenna of Hamden, Michael F. Marenna of Ledyard and David E. Marenna of Hamden. Grandfather of Christina, Anthony, Michelle, Stephanie and Michael Marenna. Great-Grandfather of Abrielle Marenna. Predeceased by a brother Pasquale Marenna. His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Thursday morning at 9:30. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Rita’s Church at 10:00. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8.
